Learn about Nepali culture

Our Cultural Introduction was originally created for our volunteers and interns (but nowadays, we also offer it to other Non-Nepalis) and is usually conducted over the course of 3-4 days. It covers topics like Nepali history, geography, demography, economics and the development of the Nepali industry, language(s), religions (especially Hinduism, its many Gods and some of their interesting stories), the cast system and societal/family structures in modern Nepal. We do our best to make this part as exciting and “alive” as possible by arranging fun and interactive games, quizzes, walking tours and foto safaris and visits at traditional workshops throughout Bhaktapur (just a few examples). Additionally, there are some more practical parts as well, during which participants can learn how to make tasty momos or the national dish Dal Bhat; they learn how to take the bus in Nepal or how to buy vegetables in the market.

If you are interested in the full Bhakatpur experience, we would love to host you for the whole length of the seminar. You would stay at our cozy Guest House in the center of the old city. It`s also possible to take only parts of the seminar, for instance cooking classes or walking tours. Just contact us to inquire about availability and prices. Follow us on Facebook to never miss a chance to get a closer look at the Nepali culture.
